Working- and middle-class families are cutting back on their grocery lists and feeling the squeeze each month when the cell phone and heating bills arrive.

Regular Canadians are bearing the brunt of the cost-of-living crisis – and the government is making money from it. New Democrats want to cut the GST on essentials like cell phone and home heating bills, kids’ clothes and diapers, and grab-and-go meals – because they shouldn’t have been taxed in the first place.

Justin Trudeau has let us all down. He promised to make things better but has done nothing to stop big corporations from driving up the cost of essentials.

• He’ll cut the Canada Child Benefit, so families could lose up to $619.17 per month
• And he’ll even cut health care, so a lot of people will pay hundreds of dollars just to see a doctor without a long wait
