The federal government could stop Ford’s takeover of Billy Bishop. Mark Carney and his government could stand with the city and the people who live there. Instead, they are staying silent while openly talking about airport privatization across the country.

That is why this matters far beyond Toronto.

This is becoming the model for a new kind of privatization where governments weaken democratic oversight, sideline communities, and treat public infrastructure more like a corporate investment opportunity than a public good.

We need to stop it.
