Support small businesses. Tell Justin Trudeau to stop favouring wealthy corporations.

So many main street small businesses have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Small businesses are the engine of job creation in Canada, and an important part of every community across the country.

The truth is that mom and pop shops keep our communities running, and they need our support now more than ever.

The problem is – Justin Trudeau is ready to go to any lengths for big corporations, but since the beginning of the pandemic, he’s done the bare minimum for small businesses in our communities.

Jagmeet Singh believes that big corporations that profiteer from this pandemic should be asked to pay their fair share so we can support small businesses.

When the NDP called on Justin Trudeau to tax corporations that have profited off of pandemic to support small businesses, he teamed up with the Conservatives and refused.

Join Jagmeet Singh in calling on Justin Trudeau to implement the NDP Plan plan that will help small businesses to:

  • Hold on their workforce by making sure the wage subsidy program continues until the pandemic is over.
  • Keep paying their rent and invest in their businesses by making sure the rent subsidy program and the business loan program continue until the pandemic is over.
  • Get people back to work by putting in place a hiring bonus to pay the employer portion of EI and CPP for new or rehired staff.
  • Place a hard cap on credit card transaction fees that have been gouging our local businesses for years. Canadian small businesses are paying among the highest credit card transaction fees in the world. It will help small businesses thrive – and that means stronger family businesses and stable, good jobs in communities across Canada.
