Trudeau’s corporate giveaways helped the ultra-rich get richer
During the pandemic, 68 companies that paid executive bonuses and $5 billion in dividends to shareholders collected over $1 billion from the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy.
But Justin Trudeau has refused to force companies to pay back subsidies that were spent on dividends and executive bonuses.
Meanwhile, Canadian billionaires got $78 billion richer during the pandemic.
Jagmeet Singh:
“While the ultra-rich are getting even richer with public money from Justin Trudeau, Canadians are struggling with higher costs. People can’t afford that anymore. It’s time to end Justin Trudeau’s free ride for the ultra-rich and invest that money in the things people need, like reducing costs for housing and prescription drugs.”
