Statement on the new CPC Leader, Pierre Poilievre

Jagmeet Singh, Leader of Canada's NDP, made the following statement:

“I would like to extend my congratulations to Pierre Poilievre on becoming the Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

This is a critical time for Canadians who are struggling with the rising cost of living, wages that don’t pay the bills and a crumbling health care system.

It’s a time for solutions that tackle the rising profits of rich CEOs at the expense of working families.

It’s a time for a plan to create good jobs that build the things we need – like homes we can afford.

And it’s a time for leaders to stand up for working people, not their bosses.

I know we will disagree on a lot and rarely find common ground – but it's time to show Canadians that leaders tell the truth and refuse the destructive politics of division.”
