Statement by the NDP on Thai Pongal

NDP Multiculturalism critic Andrew Cash (Davenport) made the following statement on Thai Pongal:

“Today, I would like to wish all Canadians of Tamil origin a wonderful Thai Pongal, or Monsoon Festival.

“This cultural festival, celebrated by Tamils across the world, is an opportunity to give thanks to nature for abundant harvests. It is also a time for rituals that bring prosperity for the year to come.

“Thai Pongal takes place during Tamil Heritage Month, and I would like to thank the entire community for their rich social, cultural and economic contributions to our country.
