Reality Check – While workers face job losses and higher prices, Poilievre hobnobs with millionaires

While workers across the country are facing higher bills and job losses due to Trump’s tariff threats, Pierre Poilievre has hosted an average of one exclusive, high-priced, closed-door millionaire donor event every week.

Wednesday night, Poilievre hosted yet another $1,750-ticket fundraiser at a private residence in Toronto. This time, it was at 60 Yorkville Road – the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences building, the building housing the “most expensive condominium sold in Canada.”

The Four Seasons building is owned by billionaire Shahid Khan, who also owns the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. In 2011, the penthouse suite sold for $28 million, which, at the time, developers said “is the most expensive condominium sold in Canada”. No wonder Poilievre thinks a three-bedroom family home is a “tiny little shack”.

“Pierre Poilievre is in it to make multi-millionaires into billionaires, and workers will pay for it,” said NDP Labour critic Matthew Green (Hamilton Centre). “He'll cut the Canada Child Benefit and it’ll cost families up to $600 a month. He’ll cut health care and it’ll mean longer waits for everyone. The price of Pierre is painfully high.”
