Reality Check: Where is Pierre?
Team Canada is currently looking for Pierre Poilievre. Since the RCMP revealed Monday that Indian diplomats have been expelled from Canada on evidence that they were involved in violent crimes on Canadian soil, Pierre Poilievre’s gone quiet.
Poilevre was busy tweeting about Tae Kwan Do and custom-made kitchen cabinets, but didn’t post a word about the bombshell in Canada politics that reportedly includes multiple homicides and bullets being fired in Canadian neighbourhoods. Eventually, a statement attributed to Poilievre was posted by some Conservative MPs, but not Poilievre.
Indian government officials appear to have interfered in the 2022 Conservative leadership race that vaulted Poilievre into power, according to the Canadian Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS).
“It’s shocking that someone who wants to be the Prime Minister is silent and absent in the face of foreign campaigns of violence targeting Canadian citizens or for the integrity of Canadian elections,” said NDP critic for Public Safety Alistair MacGregor. “When it comes to defending Canada, is he bending to pressure from foreign governments instead of standing strong for Canada?”
