Reality check: Trudeau walks away from commitments to Canadians
By calling an early election, Justin Trudeau has abandoned key commitments on:
- The housing crisis. Since Trudeau promised action in 2019, prices are up $174,800.
- Prescription drugs. Trudeau voted against universal pharmacare in February.
- Cell phone bills. Despite Trudeau’s promises, Canadians still pay the highest data costs in the developed world.
- Conversion therapy. Trudeau’s election call kills the proposed ban and ensures the practice is still legal in Canada.
- Clean drinking water. Trudeau promised clean drinking water for Indigenous communities by March 2021. 31 communities remain under boil water advisories.
Jagmeet Singh:
“Justin Trudeau always says the right thing. But today’s selfish snap election shows he has no intention of doing it. Canadians can’t afford his fake promises anymore.”
