Canada’s NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh issued the following statement:

“Tonight, at sundown, Jewish communities in Canada and around the world will begin to observe Passover. On behalf of all New Democrats, I would like to extend our best wishes to those celebrating here at home and everywhere.

Passover is one of the holiest occasions of the year observed by Jewish communities. It is a time for loved ones to celebrate freedom from oppression and remember that hope and resilience in the face of adversity can help us build a better world for all.

We can all learn from the Passover seder: “be kind to the stranger, for we too were strangers in a strange land.”

May this Passover inspire us all to be kind to one another and to stand up to all forms of oppression.

Together, we can build a better country and world for all.
