NDP statement on Chinese Lunar New Year

Jagmeet Singh, Leader of Canada’s NDP, issued the following statement:

"On the arrival of the New Year, the year of the Tiger, families and friends around the world come together to give thanks to the blessings of the year that passed. This new year is marked with the tiger’s bravery, courage, and strength.

The vibrant, dynamic and colourful Chinese New Year celebrations keep reminding Canadians of the great many contributions Chinese Canadians have made to our social diversity. This rich heritage has now become part of who we are as Canadians, and we rejoice with you during this time of renewal, hope and optimism.

On behalf of Canada’s New Democrats, I extend my warmest wishes to all Chinese Canadians.

May the Year of the Tiger bring success, health, prosperity, and happiness in 2022!
