NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh wants concrete action on Liberal promises

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh made the following statement about new cabinet appointments:

“On behalf of New Democrats, I’d like to welcome the ministers into the new cabinet.

There is a lot of work to be done on issues that matter to Canadians. The election was a month ago and Parliament won’t be back until late November. Meanwhile, Canadians are still struggling with the impact of the pandemic, and Justin Trudeau has announced his government is cutting help to people who still need it.

Regardless of who is serving in the new cabinet, Canadians want concrete action on priorities like housing affordability, the climate crisis, health care staff shortages and reconciliation. For the past 6 years, Canadians have heard Justin Trudeau make big promises. His Liberal government must move past the empty words and symbolic gestures and get to work helping people.

As a start, Justin Trudeau can drop the appeal against Indigenous kids, take bolder action on climate change and make sure Canadians have the pandemic supports they need -- for as long as they need them.

New Democrats will continue to fight for the concrete help Canadians need.”
