NDP Announces Jennifer Howard as Chief of Staff
OTTAWA - Today NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh announced the appointment of long-time senior NDP strategist Jennifer Howard as Chief of Staff to the NDP.
Howard, who will start her role on December 4, is currently Executive Director at the Public Service Alliance of Canada. She was elected to represent Fort Rouge in the Manitoba Legislative Assembly in 2007, where she served as House Leader, Minister of Family Services and Labour and as Minister of Finance. Before being elected, Howard worked as a senior advisor and strategist in Premier Gary Doer’s government. She has served in a variety of roles in the NDP, including in local riding associations, on federal and provincial party executives, and most recently representing the Persons with Disabilities committee on the Federal Executive. Howard began her career working for women’s non-profits and was the Executive Director of the Women’s Health Clinic in Winnipeg.
“Jennifer is well-known in the NDP family for her tenacity, for being one of the best strategic minds in the business, and for her exceptional leadership and management skills. She has a long history in our party, both as an elected person and a volunteer, and we are very fortunate that she will lead our hard-working team as we head into the next federal election,” said Singh.
