Conservatives and Liberals put profits ahead of people in the overdose crisis

NEW WESTMINSTER – Justin Trudeau and Erin O’Toole’s refusal to hold the big corporations who are profiting off addictions to account is leaving families and communities all alone in the fight against the overdose crisis.

“Canadians deserve a government that’s fighting for people, not the profits of big corporations. It’s time Liberals and Conservatives stop protecting rich corporations and start holding them to account.” - Peter Julian, NDP candidate for New Westminster-Burnaby.

Unlike Justin Trudeau and Erin O’Toole who prefer to stand by and do nothing, Jagmeet Singh would immediately declare the overdose crisis a national public health emergency and commit to launching an investigation into the role drug companies may have played in fuelling the overdose crisis, and seek meaningful financial compensation from them for the public costs of this crisis.
