Across the country, parents are worried about sending their kids back to child care and school.
As businesses and the economy reopen, Justin Trudeau and the Liberal government have done nothing to help provinces make sure schools are safe. And, despite sentimental words, what the Trudeau government has offered to help with child care is less than the bare minimum needed now, let alone enough to help parents access affordable care.
Without knowing their kids will be safe, going back to work is an impossible choice for millions of families. We already know, in most cases, it’s women – even those who would have otherwise worked outside of the home – who are staying out of the workforce to care for their kids.
As we build for better, the federal government needs to invest in helping to make schools and child care safe for all kids across the country.
Tell Justin Trudeau and the Liberals: Parents can’t go back to work until they know their kids are safe. The federal government needs to do more for our kids.
