Tell Justin Trudeau and the Liberals to make contraceptives free for all Canadians

Justin Trudeau said he would improve access to contraception. Years later, too many Canadian women, trans men and other gender non-conforming persons are paying out-of-pocket or still don’t have access to prescription birth control.

Justin Trudeau calls himself a “feminist”, but when he had the chance to vote for free prescription birth control, he voted against it. Trudeau and the Liberals continue to tell Canadians what they want to hear and then fail to deliver.

Reproductive freedom is a basic human right. Birth control shouldn’t just be accessible for those who can afford it. Everyone deserves to have autonomy over their own body. That includes all women, trans men and other gender non-conforming persons.

The NDP is fighting for a national pharmacare program to ensure that no Canadian has to pay out-of-pocket to safeguard their reproductive autonomy.

We need to make contraceptives free for all Canadians.
