Murray Rankin named Official Opposition Critic for National Revenue
NDP Leader Tom Mulcair announced today that Victoria MP Murray Rankin has been added to his Shadow Cabinet and given responsibility for National Revenue.
“Murray is an accomplished individual joining a strong and dynamic team. I know he will be a great asset to the NDP's Shadow Cabinet,” said Mulcair.
Rankin was elected in a by-election last November, and succeeded NDP MP and Deputy Speaker Denise Savoie as the MP for Victoria.
“I look forward to taking on this challenge,” said Rankin. “I'm ready to get to work holding the Conservatives accountable when it comes to fair taxation and balancing the books.”
Prior to being elected, Rankin was a senior public law lawyer with a national and international reputation for his work in environmental, aboriginal and administrative legal issues.
