Employment Minister Jason Kenney reacts to poor job numbers: “LA! LA! LA! I CAN’T HEAR YOU!”
@kenneyjason: Great to see the creation of 54,000 full time #jobs last month – Twitter, January 9, 2015
Woot indeed Minister! But if Jason Kenney took the trouble to read the whole Statistics Canada report, he would have learned that these new jobs were more than offset by 58,000 jobs lost.
That means a net loss of another 4,000 jobs last month.
The minister also failed to tweet about the dire numbers in the youth job market – 3,300 more youth saw their jobs disappear while the youth unemployment rate rose to 13.3%.
What’s Jason Kenney’s job title again? Minister of Employment?
While Conservative ministers cherry-pick job numbers – and propose spending billions on wasteful ideas like income splitting that only help the wealthy few – Tom Mulcair and the NDP can be counted on to listen to Canadians and propose practical ideas to help families.
