Responsibilities
The New Democratic Party of Canada is seeking an experienced Digital Director to lead ambitious online engagement, fundraising and organizing programs through the 2019 election.
The Digital Director provides strategic direction to all outbound online communications from the Party. She/he is responsible for email, social media, digital advertising, website, and list growth strategies, planning, and execution.
Contributing as a key member of the senior management team, the Digital Director provides crucial leadership in informing and shaping strategy and priorities and in promoting collaboration across departments. As well, she/he manages the digital team staff, measures and analyzes results and progress to goals, and encourages and leads on innovation and growth across channels.
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing the overall digital strategy; setting goals and metrics; determining plans, processes, tools and tech needed to achieve those goals; executing the plan; and assuring ongoing monitoring, evaluation and learning.
Responsibilities include:
- Building relationships with current NDP supporters and voters, and recruiting new supporters – moving online audiences up a strategic ladder of engagement
- Fundraising – designing, executing, and evaluating the online fundraising program
- Acquisition – building the NDP’s email and social lists
- Email – managing calendaring, writing, editing, and approval processes
- Social Media – increasing the reach of the NDP’s earned media and issue campaigns
- Online organizing – working with organizing staff to communicate with top-level volunteers and recruit NDP supporters to engage online and offline in support of organizing efforts
- Manage Web development, tools, testing, and optimization
- Metrics – establishing KPIs, sharing metrics, and leading measurement and analysis
- Optimization – overseeing tests to optimize landing pages, the email program, and user experience
- Video – planning, writing, and managing the production and promotion of video content
- Advertising – developing online ads and ad strategies to support acquisition, engagement, and persuasion
- Brand – ensuring brand and messaging standards are upheld for all outbound digital content
Qualifications
The Digital Director should have experience managing people, projects, and products in a fast-paced environment. The candidate should have high-level professional experience. Political experience is highly valued.
- 5+ years high-level professional digital experience
- Digital organizing and fundraising expertise, including running a national or province-wide digital program at the director or deputy-director level
- Demonstrated experience running a data-driven program
- Demonstrated strategic planning and implementation experience
- Demonstrated experience of cross-departmental and/or organization-wide digital support
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to NDP’s values and mission
- Bilingual, French & English
- Preference given for:
- Statistical analysis and reporting experience
- Background in multiple areas of digital work (i.e. email, revenue, social media, design, development, etc.)
- Digital testing
